About the event
Explore the rich history of Jerusalem through the stories of two Ottoman-era neighborhoods: Mamilla and Musrara. Once a bustling 19th-century commercial hub just outside the Old City walls, Mamilla has been transformed into a sleek, upscale shopping and cultural promenade—where luxury storefronts sit beneath preserved stone facades. In contrast, Musrara reveals a powerful and complex chapter of 20th-century Israeli history, from its days as a no-man’s-land on the border between Israel and Jordan, to its role as the birthplace of the Israeli social protest movement. Together, these neighborhoods offer a vivid portrait of Jerusalem’s resilience, reinvention, and the layers of meaning etched into its streets.
